Pomaire - The Heart of Chilean Clay Cookware
Introducing Pomaire, Chile
Nestled among the rolling hills just west of Santiago, the small town of Pomaire, Chile, has become a living symbol of clay artistry and cultural heritage. For generations, families in Pomaire have shaped the earth itself — molding rich, local clay into pots, pans, and tableware that embody the warmth and generosity of Chilean hospitality.
We are proud to bring you the Pomaire Cookware Collection, handcrafted by María, a lifelong artisan who has devoted over 50 years to the art of clay work. Each piece is made using ancestral techniques passed down through generations. From the gathering of fertile local clay to its careful molding and firing in traditional wood kilns, María’s process reflects both patience and mastery. The result is a durable, natural piece that carries beauty, function, and soul — cookware designed for slow, even heat and for dishes that bring people together.
Caring for Your Clay Cookware
Each Pomaire piece is unique and, like any handmade creation, it deserves a little care. Before first use, it’s recommended to “cure” your cookware by boiling water in it or rubbing it with a touch of oil and warming it slowly. This seals the pores of the clay and strengthens it for everyday cooking.
Avoid sudden temperature changes — for example, don’t place a hot pot on a cold surface or add cold ingredients to a hot dish. With gentle use and simple handwashing, your Pomaire cookware will only grow more beautiful over time, developing a natural patina that tells the story of every meal shared.
