Expanding Our Roots: Welcoming Colombia to Andes Ancestral

We are proud to partner with OneThreadCollective, a nonprofit enterprise working with over 100 Wayúu Indigenous weavers from remote villages in Colombia to build strong and sustainable communities.

Through this partnership, we support programs in entrepreneurship, leadership training, reading and literacy, personal finance, and community-designed project management.

Each artisan specializes in the creation of handwoven mochila crossbody bags—a tradition rooted in ancestral Wayúu weaving techniques passed from grandmother to granddaughter. The Wayúu make up Colombia's largest ethnic group.  Their ancestral territory lies in the dry tropical forest and desert landscapes of La Guajira, where women have been weaving beautiful bags and artwork that connect generations by sustaining their ancestral traditions and wisdom.  Every mochila is a labor of love, taking 1 to 2 weeks to complete.

By supporting these women, you’re not only preserving a sacred art form—you’re investing in a future of dignity, self-reliance, and cultural pride.
